Chandena Dias (Captain)
Trentino
Right hand bat and leg break bowler. Chandena came to Italy when he was 13 and did not play cricket for 3 years because he was not aware that the game was played in ItaIy. A remarkable talent who needs to add discipline and consistency to his game.

Warren Mazzocini
Maremma Grosseto
Left hand bat and left medium pace bowler. Of South African extraction, an opening bowler who should do well in Irish conditions provided he keeps a full length. A natural tail-end slogger and a brilliant fielder in any position.

        Johan Kartyawasan
Primavera Lazio
Right hand bat and leg break bowler. Nephew of the legendary Italian skipper, Kamal, Johan was unquestionably the team's most consistent batsman on last year's tour of England. He needs to tighten his fielding to aspire to the full international arena.

        Gabriele Passaretti
Primavera Lazio
Right hand bat and wicketkeeper. No shortage of Latin flair in this wicketkeeper batsman who on his day can carry the attack to the opponents as no one else in the side can. His wicketkeeping has progressed constantly but still needs polishing when standing up.

Dino Rech
Primavera Lazio
Right hand bat and right medium pace bowler. Another player of South African extraction from whom the team expects the initial breakthrough and precious late order runs. A top class fielder.

        Paul Smith
Primavera Lazio
Right hand bat and right medium pace bowler. An Australian who learned his cricket during his ten year stay in Italy. He will probably have to open both the batting and bowling-a tall order but also one to which he is capable of responding.

Antonio Urso
Libertas Romolo Murri Catania
Right hand bat and right medium pace bowler. The first Sicilian, Joe Scuderi apart, to be capped for Italy. He has curbed his natural enthusiasm to become a thinking cricketer; very much a team player.

        Kelum Perera
Bologna
One of two completely Italian players of subcontinental extraction, Kelum has shown the maturity over the last two seasons to bat at the top of the order in the Italian Championship but still needs to assert himself at international level,

Edoardo Gallo
Primavera Lazio
Age 15. Opening bat and fleet-footed fielder who struggled considerably last year on the UK tour to adapt his limited technique against the moving ball.

Ivan Sarnelli
Primavera Lazio
Right hand bat and right medium pace bowler. Made the headlines in 1997 at 14 years and 11 months when he took 6 for 16 against Grosseto in a Championship match. Since then he has not lived up to expectations. The tournament offers him a chance to re-enter the limelight.

Luigi Cascione
Pianoro
Right hand bat and right medium pace bowler. One of the last generation of the Parisi lads, will make his international debut in the tournament. Still raw, has great margins for improvement.

        Lorenzo Gatti
Pianoro
Right hand bat and right medium pace bowler. The most improved player in the whole of Italian cricket in the last 12 months. Confirming his progress in Ireland could lead to a surprise selection for the national's side tour of England in August.

Luca Poli
Pianoro
Right hand bat and right medium pace bowler. He made his full international debut last year against France but has somehow been overshadowed by the progress of team mate Lorenzo Gatti over the last 12 months. Reminiscent in physique to his mentor, Ita1y's vice captain Valerio Zuppiroli.

Ricardo Maggio
Manager
A veteran of the Ferguson era at only 29, Riccardo is the most promising of the new crop of Italian young coaches who is putting to advantage his unquestionable cricketing experience that has seen play in all corners of the globe.

        Doug Ferguson
National Coach
A legendary figure in Italian cricket, Doug is now in his sixth season as National Coach. He will be embarking on yet again another campaign hoping that the team, short of performing another Dutch miracle, will perform creditably.

Patrick Leech
Youth Coach
Patrick, an Italian citizen at last, was one of the founding figures of the game in Italy and has been working constantly with youngsters in Bologna for the last decade.
