One of the newest grounds being used in the tournament, the ground has nevertheless become a regular home for international cricket in Argentina in recent years.

First used for international cricket for three matches in the 2000 South American Championship, Argentina were scheduled to play their first match here in 2001 during the MCC's tour of the country, but the match was abandoned due to rain. It hosted Argentina's famous North v South match for the first time in 2004, the three-day match ending in a draw.

It has become a regular venue in Americas tournaments held in Argentina, hosting matches in Americas Division Two in 2006 and Division Three in 2008.
