SCOTLAND may be relying on ECB England losing one of their last two games but they kept alive their chances of winning their first European Championship with a 137 runs victory over Italy.
Greig Williamson continued in his pinch-hitting role and failed by just one run to score his first century for Scotland. After hitting 99 from 115 balls, with 10 fours and a six, he tried to reach the landmark in the grand manner and was caught at long leg.
Italy batted out their 46 overs but could reach only 110 for nine. The hard-working Brigade officials were finally beaten by the overnight rain, the outfield unable to recover and the game between ECB England and Denmark was eventually called off at 3pm. The game will be be played today at Limavady with the English needing a win to maintain their 100 per cent record.
In Division Two, it is also a three-way tie at the top after Germany's six runs defeat to a Gibraltar side who bowled 39 wides, nine more than Germany's top scorer Ayoob Pasha.
The result means that if Germany beat Portugal in their final game tomorrow, Gibraltar will retain their Division Two title if they beat Israel. However, if Portugal win, they will be the new champions, as they have already beaten Gibraltar.
