In what was probably the game of the division, Gibraltar defeated Germany in a thrilling contest by just six runs. Gibraltar batted first in a game which was reduced to 43 overs. Farooq Ahmad continued his good form taking the early wickets of Ian Farrell and Daniel Johnson. Christian Rocca and Philip Hudson then added 59 for the 3rd wicket before both went for 59 and 41 respectively. Wickets then fell at an alarming rate as the batsmen sacrificed themselves in the pursuit of quick runs. The last 6 wickets fell for just 15 runs to leave Gibraltar all out for 166. Farooq Ahmad had the remarkable figures of 6 wickets for 24 runs and Hamed Bhatti had 2 for 18.
In reply Germany lost wickets at regular intervals as Gary DeÕAth and Jonathan Mather bowled particularly impressively. Ayoob Pasha top scored with 30, and Mark Brodersen made 24 before being run out. Despite conceding an amazing 49 extras, 39 of which were wides, Gibraltar won a famous victory by 6 runs. Mather finished with 5 wickets for 40 runs, and De'Ath had figures of 3 for 14.
