Germany ran out convincing winners after they dismissed France for just 64 runs in the game at Muckamore. France batted first and never got to grips with the German bowling. Farooq Ahmad and Renald Buss picked up three wickets apiece, while skipper Hamid Bhatti took 2 for 11. Only three French players managed to reach double figures, and of those Javed Ijaz top scored with 14.
64 was never going to a problem for Germany and although they lost Mark Brodersen lbw to Valentin Brumant for no score, a 50 run stand between Anees Butt and Farooq Ahmad saw them to the brink of victory. Ahmad was eventually run out for 24, and Ayoob Pasha then fell one run later with the score on 55. However there were no further losses as ButtŐs 36 not out saw them to victory in the 12th over.
