It's getting closer at the top of both divisions - with three teams bunched together with three wins in each. But rain in Londonderry means England have a game in hand and if they win their rescheduled match against Denmark to-morrow they'll remain firm favourites to take the championship.

Of the two games played in Division 1, the highlight was a knock by Scotland's Greig Williamson who fell just one run short of the first century in Division 1. With Colin Smith chipping in with a half century Scotland's total of 247 for 7 was far too good for Italy who went down by 137 runs. The Ireland - Holland affair was a closer affair with the Dutch coming back strongly after slumping to 17 for 5 in casing Ireland's 193. Tim de Leeds's half century spared real blushes and at the end Ireland's victory was just 11 runs.

To-night Scotland, England and Ireland share top spot - Scotland have the higher net run rate, but England have that game in hand to-morrow. A nail biting finish gave Gibraltar a last over, six run victory over the hitherto unbeaten Germany and has opened up Division 2. Germany and Gibraltar are joined by Portugal - all with six points with Germany enjoying the best net run rate.

Gibraltar's victory came despite conceding no fewer than 39 wides, with Mather taking five for 40. But Germany's Farooq Ahmed went one further for Germany and his 6-24 are the best bowling figures of the tournament so far. Israel amassed 223 for 8 - Hershell Gutman top scored with 72 - in a runaway win over France who failed to reach three figures. And Austria continue to be pointless, going down by six wickets for Portugal.
